The Director of eCommerce is responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and optimization of the company's online sales platforms. This role oversees all aspects of eCommerce operations, including web management, digital merchandising, marketing integration, third-party marketplaces, and vendor technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a data-driven mindset, exceptional leadership capabilities, and deep familiarity with eCommerce tools and infrastructure to grow digital revenue and enhance the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities - Define and execute a scalable eCommerce strategy aligned with company growth goals and brand positioning.
- Lead initiatives across DTC, B2B, and marketplace platforms (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Target Plus).
- Oversee the performance, UX, content, and functionality of the eCommerce website (Shopify Plus or similar).
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts in content management, merchandising, promotions, and checkout optimization.
- Leverage data insights and conversion rate optimization (CRO) techniques to improve customer acquisition and retention.
- Run A/B tests, implement personalized experiences, and drive continuous improvements based on performance metrics.
- Partner with marketing to execute campaigns across paid search, social, email, affiliate, and influencer channels.
- Ensure product feeds, inventory, and promotions are optimized across all sales and advertising channels.
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional eCommerce team (merchandising, operations, analytics, content).
- Lead relationships with external vendors, agencies, platform providers, and fulfillment partners.
- Establish KPIs, dashboards, and regular performance review.
- Translate insights into actionable plans that improve channel performance and drive ROI.
Technology Platforms & Tools - Shopify Plus, Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace, Target Plus, SellerCloud (preferred).
- Salsify for product content syndication and digital shelf management.
- ClickUp, Asana, Jira, or Trello for cross-functional collaboration and workflow tracking.
- Google Analytics (UA & GA4), Hotjar, Looker Studio, Klaviyo, and other martech tools.
- Familiarity with ERPs, CRMs (e.g., NetSuite, SellerCloud), PIM systems, and APIs for syncing inventory, orders, and customer data.
- Well versed in Microsoft Excel for extensive formula knowledge and queries.
- Experience managing performance on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Wayfair, and other major online marketplaces.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, eCommerce, or related field.
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in eCommerce with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven success managing Shopify Plus and SellerCloud or equivalent platforms in a highgrowth environment.
- Strong project management, leadership, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable strategies and tactical execution plans
