SUMMARY

We are seeking a Packaging Engineer to handle multiple technical sales avenues with a long-time packaging equipment distributor. This leader must have the ability to sell and will be responsible for assisting the sales force in selling package designs and equipment opportunities. This requires an understanding of all levels of packaging equipment, from stand-alone semi-auto to fully automatic machines, mechanics, package design re-design, sourcing, and creating products designs to solve customer packaging challenges. RESPONSIBILITIES

• The position will be responsible for driving revenue and profit by designing, creating, and developing testing and proving packaging solutions to meet customer needs and improving customer operations.
• Travel with sales reps to visit various customer locations and help identify, source quality manufactured equipment, showcase equipment capabilities, quotes, and close multiple sale opportunities.
• Collaborate with Engineering to ensure customer satisfaction and operational process.
• Conduct testing and analysis to assess product performance, including safety, durability, and environment impact.
• Experienced and skilled in packaging substrates like film, corrugated foam, wood, glass, and others.
• Abilit to spot and discern issues facing our customers, even before they voice those concerns.
• Assist sales reps in closing deals by providing desirable packaging designs to resolve customer concerns.
• Provide timely responses, quotes, ad designs to support Sales Department “speed to market” needs.
• Assists sales reps and purchasing personnel with sourcing products related to the sales opportunity.
• Utilize CAD / Design software to create products as well as machine layouts ensuring fit and function with customers layouts and expectations.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and product data.
• Understand and accepts the annual sales revenue requirement and assists sales in meeting their goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, w/ 5 plus years of design experience
• Experience in Mechanical Engineering and Sales is required.
• Relevant experience within the packaging industry.
• Vast understanding of packaging equipment process.
• Comprehensive knowledge of packaging materials to include corrugated, folding cartons, structured films (horizontal, vertical, stand-up pouches), industrial films (shrink, stretch, bundling) and printing process.
• Experience in product design utilizing a full range of packaging materials.
• Experience using testing lab to ensure quality in shipping, handling, and freight processes (i.e., Trucking, FedEx/UPS, Air, Overseas, etc.)
• AutoCAD experience required.
• Ability to read, write and interpret technical information.
• Computer skills (Microsoft office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project Management; Salesforce
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Ability to travel locally, domestically, and internationally up to 30% based on project needs. Meetings are often required at customer locations in manufacturing environments and/or corporate settings.
