Mechanical assembly of locomotive, locomotive components, maintenance of way equipment (MoW), railcars and components, track and track component to include signaling based on AAR standards, customer specifications and company guidelines.

**Job Title:**
Production Mechanic II

**Key Job Elements:**
- Specific site-based duties and responsibilities may apply, consult with local team;
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with PRS safety policies;
- Perform teardown repair, replacement, rebuild and reassembly of mechanical components;
- Parts cleaning for small and large motor parts;
- Conduct daily inspections and operate overhead cranes and forklifts;
- Use basic air tools, die grinder, drill, etc.;
- Route and connect hydraulic plumbing;
- Basic wiring and electrical assembly;
- Light fabrication and parts alterations;
- Operate saws, lathes, drills and other types of machinery;
- Operate Forklifts, overhead cranes and other equipment as necessary;
- Read and follow QWI and other work instructions necessary to properly assembly product.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- Train other employees;
- Troubleshoot, inspect and run equipment;
- Read schematics, engineering drawings and sketches;
- Use of precision instruments and gauges;
- Operator is well versed in multiple facets of production roles;
- Operator will have high level experience in testing, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing components;
- Can operate high level machinery proficiently with little assistance;
- Skill Level II - 2-3 years of experience or Technical Certifications with other mechanical experience.
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
- Strength - Ability to lift, push pull up to 50lbs repeatedly
- Motion - Employee will stand for majority of the shift, will kneel, squat, stooping, overhead reach and climb step multiple times throughout the day
- Vision/Hearing Requirements - Must be able to hear and see parts as they are machined, looking, and listening for deficiencies and machinery malfunctions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally
- Work Environment - The majority of the time will be indoors, in non-temperature-controlled environments. Position is exposed to oils, lubricants and other substances used in the machining process
- Emotional Demands - Position requires employees to be vigilant to ensure safety of everyone in the area. Requires decisions on the proper operation of machine
- Safety - Position is a safety sensitive position. Position requires following all safety procedures, policies, and PPE requirements such that include hand, head, eye, hand, ear, and foot protection.
