Repligen Corporation is seeking a technically skilled, innovation-driven and sustainability-focused Senior Packaging Engineer to join our global team.

As a Senior Packaging Engineer at Repligen, you will lead the design, development, and qualification of packaging and help drive labeling solutions across a diverse product portfolio. You'll work cross-functionally to drive packaging innovation, optimize performance, ensure compliance with global standards, and contribute to Repligen Corporation's mission to empower bioprocessing breakthroughs.

Responsibilities

• Lead packaging projects from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with performance, regulatory, sustainability, and cost objectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and regulatory teams to enable on-time product launches and packaging improvements.
• Design, qualify, and document packaging systems using materials such as corrugated fiberboard, paperboard, foam cushioning, thermoforms, flexible films, and molded components.
• Advance corporate labeling strategy through end-to-end process management, including project coverage, template creation and revision, testing, specification documents, change controls and system updates.
• Plan and perform testing and validation protocols to ASTM, ISTA, ISO, and 49CFR standards, both internally and with certified external laboratories.
• Troubleshoot and optimize packaging and labeling designs and processes using root cause analysis and data-driven methodologies.
• Evaluate new packaging and labeling materials and technologies to enhance sustainability, compliance, and performance.

• Document specifications, test protocols, risk assessments, change-control records, and best practice sharing case studies.
• Collaborate across high-performance teams and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related technical field.
• 5-8+ years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably in life sciences, biotechnology, or other regulated industries (which can include internship experience).
• Expertise in protective packaging, cushioning solutions, and sterilization-compatible materials.
• Experience with developing GMP labeling or regulatory compliance (e.g., REACH, GHS) labeling a plus.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, ISTA, ISO standards, and 49CFR compliance.
• Proven ability to manage concurrent projects of varying complexity and lead cross-functional teams.
• Excellent multi-modal communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Ability to travel to other Repligen locations as required (< 10%).
• Physical strength and agility to load, lift, and move product-filled packaging as required.

Focused on cost and process efficiencies, we deliver innovative technologies and solutions that help set new standards in bioprocessing. The estimated salary range for this role, based in the United States of America is $130,000-150,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, employees are eligible to participate in one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package. We offer a wide range of benefits such as paid time off, health/dental/vision, retirement benefits and flexible spending accounts.
