Job Title: Supervisor, Accounting 


Job Location: 3000 N. Sam Houston Parkway East, Houston, TX 77032 


Duties:
Responsible for researching and responding to complex accounting issues in the organization including revenue recognition, consolidation accounting, investment accounting, impairment analyses, lease accounting, and various other matters; Reviewing and interpreting various contracts and proposing the appropriate accounting treatment; Responsible for advising and assisting global finance and accounting personnel on complex accounting issues; Researches and resolves complex accounting issues and transactions including related internal controls; Performs review and demonstrates understanding of various contracts with customers, vendors, and other complex transactions; Contributes or prepares specialized memos and reports on complex accounting issues and transactions; Monitors and assesses the impact of new accounting standards and SEC filing rules; Supports external auditors as needed; Provides accounting assistance during special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures; Performs fair valuation or reviews valuation provided by third parties for various accounting purposes; Provides accounting training presentations or documentation to share accounting knowledge with the global organization.

 

Requirements

Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in an Accounting-related occupation. 

Position requires experience in the following: 

1. Experience with US GAAP or country-specific accounting principles to conduct accounting research to address accounting inquires related to various topics, including revenue recognition, lease, joint venture, consolidation, investment accounting, impairment, business combination, etc. 
2. Experience with ERP system and reporting tools including, SAP, Hyperion, and similar systems for the purpose of generating adhoc reports or obtaining data for financial analysis to assist with the accounting research. 
3. Experience conducting research utilizing online resources from the accounting standard setting bodies, interpretive guidance from accounting firms, and any other available and trustworthy resources 
4. Experience with moderately complex aspects of general accounting, internal controls, financial analysis and reporting, forecasting, and financial applications, as well as intermediate levels of proficiency with industry acumen. 
5. Experience with drafting technical accounting memos for complex accounting topics, and experience with communicating accounting analysis and providing accounting guidance in various written and oral formats. 
6. Experience with delivering training material on accounting topics, including writing training articles, recording training videos, and providing live training presentations. 
7. Experience with reading legal contracts, evaluating the potential accounting implications, and providing suggestions where applicable. 
8. Understanding in fair valuation approaches using different valuation techniques, including discount cash flow model, market-based approaches, relief of royalty method, etc. 
9. Knowledge of internal control and governance, and experience with drafting business practices to drive for compliance. 
10. Knowledge of financial performance metrics such as CVA/NOVA
